GULU NORTHERN - Two boxers from each weight category have qualified for the national novice which will start on 19th of September and now it will be the competition amongst different regions where Eastern,central, western and Northern all will send their teams that will represent their regions.

And also those who went up to semi final have also qualified for national intermediate that will start around October

As the northern boxing excom we request all our boxers to continue doing more training to make northern shines Geoffrey Omara Secretary Northern Uganda said .

In one of the most memorable moments of the championship, two boxers from the same club - Lira-based Padi Boxing Club faced off in the final. Onyolo Samuel battled his teammate Okot Brian (Red Corner)in the Padi Derby, with Okot Brian winning the title.

The sub-region was represented by several clubs including Padi Boxing Club, Lira City Boxing Club, Alebtong Boxing Club among others, whose combined performance secured the overall trophy for Lango.

The two finalists from each weight category have qualified for the National Novice Championship which will kick off on 19th September. At the nationals, teams from Eastern, Central, Western and Northern regions will compete.

Speaking after the event, Geoffrey Omara from the Northern Boxing EXCOM congratulated the winners and called for more hard work.

He also confirmed that the Northern Region was given a Boxing Ring that will help them develop .

"As the Northern Boxing EXCOM, we request all our boxers to continue doing more training to make Northern shine," Godfrey said.

Focus now shifts to intensive training as Northern Uganda prepares to shine at the national level.
